Mark, Julie and Elyse,
You know how much our family cares for you all and how our lives have kept are paths crossing throughout the years.  First through Union City Police Department and then when the girls danced together.  The Lord has made our paths cross another time through Brandon and the Good Night Soldier song.  I heard the song for the first time in January 2005. Even after Erica and Derek recorded it, I never imagined it would touch us so close to home.  We are so very proud of Brandon.  May the Lord bless and protect our brave men and women.  We care very deeply for all of you.  I pray for you always.

It is a bittersweet day that I welcome home your brothers and mourn the loss of my son. I am proud of you and your ideals. I am proud that you are a US Marine and that I can  claim the title of  United States Marine Parent. I am especially proud to have you as my son and to be your father. I love you. Close

Hi Brandon, my darling nephew and friend,
I have so many regrets sweetheart. I missed out on so much in your little B-boy years. We bonded instantly the minute I showed up on your doorstep when Gramps was sick. I thank God everyday for that. You and Elyse loved me, even though we missed out on so much time. I knew instantly what you were made of and I knew you had something very special inside of you.....
I know that you love me Brandon and I know that you know that I loved you.
I am envious that you are in that better place, but I know you could have done so much good here with your earth family. This crazy world needed you for awhile longer. There is no one like you....
I love you sweet Brandon

Julie and family...  My heart greaves with you and for you.  I miss your postings Julie... mostly during the first deployment to Iraq.  I remember holding you when we met during that Homecoming eagerly awaiting our Marine's arrival...  you and Angie were the first to greet me.  You have no idea how special and happy you made me feel.  Now, I wish I could hold you again... for different reasons.  To let you know I miss you and that bright smiling face and hearty laughter of yours.  We got to know Brandon through your words... he became special to us too.  Brandon has a smile that draws everyone in... that smile makes you want to linger and talk.  I say "has"... because I know he is up there with God... smiling down at us, just waiting to greet us to his special Homecoming.  He then will be holding us.  God Bless and watch over you Julie, Scott, Elyse, Mark, and Shelly. Ok so nobody calls a marine "smiles" but that is exactly what i think of when i'm reminded of Dewey. He had the biggest, sweetest most sincere smile. I remember high school and how he was one of the only guys in Senior Odyssey. He used to say the funniest stuff- we did all these psychology tests and while we were all thinking that our metaphorical lake symbolized an obstical or someting, he said "my pool of sexuality" haha. Only a guy surrounded by women would say that. And of course, he just turned around and grinned. And that voice! He could melt a heart with one "hello." He left such an impression on this earth- he will never be forgotten, but remembered and admired for his service and for his presence. And of course, for his smile. Close

To the parents and family of Brandon,
We did not know your son, but want you to know you are in our prayers daily as was your son, for each day we ask God to protect the men and women in our Armed Forces and their families.  It is with deepest heartfelt gratitude and sympathy that my family and I add this tribute to your wonderful son, for the loss you have endured.  There is no way to ever repay Brandon or you for the sacrifices made in the effort of freedom.  Though we did not know your son personally, the efforts he made on our behalf and that of the free world have etched impressions of love, respect and gratitude upon our minds and hearts as if we had known him well and we will never forget the selfless sacrifices he made.  We look at his photos with pride and miss him too.  What a precious, happy little boy and handsome young man amidst an obviously loving and wonderful family.  Thank you for honoring your deserving son with this beautiful website and for sharing precious moments of his life and loss so that we may never forget him or you and so many others who are the true heroes of our time.  May God bless America, you and your family - you are the best of all that is good in America.

Sincerely,
Anne Newman & family Close

I didnt know your son but, I would like to say her was a hero to the United States. I really know how hard it is having to say good bye. My daughter Elizabeth Miller also served in the US Army. The Lord took her on her way to her unit in a head on collision an taken on impact. I think the hardest thing a parent has to go thru in life is to have an officer come to your home an tell you your child want be back....I know it is really hard,  I really do know and there is day's that seem worse than other's but, please try an stay strong as possible....If it wasnt for the Lord I know I couldn't go thru this so if there is anything I could possibly say to help you and your family is just pray, pray, pray and I promise the Lord will hear your prayer's....I herd a preacher say one morning something that helped me look at thing's differently and I would like to share with you....He said when our loved one goes to heaven they continually dwell with the Lord and when we pray the Lord tells us in the Bible that he hears our prays and hes by our side SO if he is with us that means our children are also with us....I know that when I go to pray I really feel Gods' presence and I also have such a warm feeling in my soul that almost bubbles and I really believe that is showing me my daughter is there too...Remember when you had your son how your heart just melted an how wonderful it was.Things like this is what will help you be able to get thru the vallies. That is such good memories to hold tight to and get strength from....I dont want to make no one upset but, I wanted to tell what I do and maby this will help you and your family....I will be praying for your family...The pain we have to bare is really heavy Lord PLEASE help this family by healing the wound's from the broken heart's....God BLess you all....Darla Momma of a little soldier girl Elizabeth Miller Close

I found your beautiful, moving tribute to your Brandon while browsing the Memory Of memorials and just wanted to write to let you know how grateful I am to have the liberties Brandon and so many others have given the ultimate sacrifice to preserve.

I lost my son in a single car accident in August, 1997 at the age of 22.  Had he lived, he would be 31 today, March 2, 2006.

May God grant you gentle moments and precoius memories of your loved one gone too soon.
